Thanks to everybody who came out to the Writers in BA meet-up at Sugar last Friday, it was great to meet you all! And for those who couldn’t make it, don’t worry, there will be more. It was a good night, about 20-25 people showed after only a week of reaching out, which affirms that there are many of us lonely writers here wandering the city. The next time the New York Times does one of their articles about the oh-so-trendy, Bohemian expat life in Buenos Aires, you know they’re going to have to call us, so let’s unite and become a force to be reckoned with! Remember, we are the Paris of South America. Fifty years from now, the literary community will be waxing nostalgic about the wave of great expat writers in Buenos Aires circa post-economic crisis. There will be walking tours throughout the city: “So-and-so penned the bulk of her classic novel, Insert Non-Tango Related, Truly Original Title Here, here at Café Margot in Boedo at this very table…you can see where she carved her initials…” Think big, people.
Stay tuned for news on an upcoming Open Mike night/Literary Café. If anybody has any ideas or contacts for venues in which to hold such an event, preferably free-of-charge or inexpensive and with a cozy atmosphere, sound system & bar, let me know…
Link your blog or website to ours! Send us a link and we will post it. And check out your fellow writers’ sites already up on the list at the right.
